Hi, I’m Jean Barkley, and I’m a counseling intern specializing in providing support to adults navigating life transitions and relationship stress as well as helping people of all ages in dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms. My journey into counseling began with experiencing the power of the therapeutic connection in navigating life’s many challenges and wanting to pay that forward to help others likewise find their inner resilience. I draw on decades of experience in the demanding professional field of a law practice to connect with clients who have busy lives. My approach is rooted in compassion and practical, real-world understanding of the pressures you face. I am passionate about empowering you to move forward on your journey in the face of life’s difficulties with a spirit of confidence, validation, and peace.

I am currently completing my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. I have additional training in trauma counseling to work with childhood trauma, PTSD, and crisis situations, and am also in training with a heart to help those who suffer from reproductive issues (including infertility and pregnancy loss) as well as to work with the entire adoption constellation, offering informed support for prospective adoptive parents, adoptees, and birth/first parents. I work under the guidance of licensed professionals, offering a client-centered safe environment of compassion, empathy, and unconditional acceptance and evidence-based techniques such as Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

I believe counseling is a collaborative journey, creating a safe, non-judgmental space for reflection, healing, and growth. It would be my privilege to work with you to empower you to navigate life’s difficulties.
